Parent Guide Rating Control
The Skywave TV Set-top-box (STB) comes with a program control function, which allows subscribers to restrict unauthorized access by means of channel lock and parental control.
Channel lock is able to restrict direct access to channel(s) unless a password is entered. This function is applicable to all type of program. After activation, a password is the only way to gain access to the locked channel. The channel lock function lets subscribers set their own restricted channel(s).
Parental control allows subscribers to set the program rating, which prevents children from gaining access to program(s) unsuitable for their age. The parental control level is given as age-based including, "Age-13", "Age-15", "Age-18", "All Lock" and "No Lock". The TV programs come with an Event Information Table (EIT) coded in its video stream. The STB will look for such EIT code in the video stream and compare it with the parental rating level set in the STB. If the code value is higher than the age group rating, the program will be restricted for access and a warning message will appear on the screen. The password is access coded to gain view of the program. The default setting for the parental control is "No Lock" (Parental Control Disable). Once the parental control is activated and the video stream is not packed with an EIT code, the subscriber will be required to input a password in order to have a greater level protection. No EIT or 0 value will both be read as no EIT code. The EIT code match table is listed below for reference:

The password is a 4-digit secret
code. The default is 0000. This is a common, universal
code for all operations in menu settings. In the
case of activating the channel lock or parental
control, the correct password must be input before
accessing menu. This prohibit an unauthorized user
from changing the subscriber's setting. It is recommended
to change the password. For security, keep it in
secret location. In case the password is forgotten,
subscribers must contact their operator.
